Alex City Art Colony

The Sarah Towery Art Colony is held the first full week in October on beautiful Lake Martin. Two nationally recognized artists headline a week-long workshop for adults.  On Thursday evenings, a reception is generally held at Children's Harbor on Lake Martin with the public invited. The Horizons Unlimited series mission is to meet the needs of the mature learners in an informal environment of collective participation. Every fall and spring, lectures and discussions are held featuring various speakers, authors and discussion groups. Membership dues of $10 offsets costs of travel/honorariums.  Meetings are held at the Alexander City Board of Education Building, 375 Lee Street, Alexander City AL
